Riccardo Luppi presents his Quartet at SOUNDS, which includes some of the most interesting jazz musicians on the Brussels music scene: Manolo Cabras on double bass and Marek Patrman on drums, who form one of the most solid and close-knit rhythms on the scene with whom Luppi has been collaborating in various formations for more than twelve years, and Simon Groppe on piano, who joined the group more recently, bringing his great energy and creativity to the ensemble.

The Quartet presents a repertoire of original pieces composed by the various members of the group completely revisited for the occasion and belonging to different periods of their career, combined with pieces by great composers of the jazz history.

Active since 1976 on the jazz scene, he has had the honor of meeting and sharing musical experiences in small groups with some of the best Italian and foreign musicians of his generation and of being present in orchestral groups directed by, among others, Maria Schneider, Bob Mintzer, Kenny Wheeler, Muhal Richard Abrams, Roswell Rudd among the foreigners and with Giorgio Gaslini (Grande Orchestra Nazionale di Jazz), among the Italians, playing in International Festivals in Europe, the United States, Central America, North Africa.
He has over seventy recordings to his credit both as a sideman and as a member of stable formations, in addition to those published under his own name, of which the latest are "As We Thought" of Wisdom Trio, together with New York double bass player Joe Fonda and italian drummer Filippo Monico, and "ONE", for Creative Sources Recordings of Lisbon, together with Simone Massaron on guitar and electronics and Zurich bass player Daniel Studer.
He is among the founders of M.M.C. Milano Music Collective, an experience shared for years with other seniors of the Milanese avant guard scene.
Since 2000 he has taught as a teacher in Jazz courses at various Italian music Conservatories, from 2010 to 2022 at the "Giuseppe Verdi" in Milan.
