Milan Verbist (°1999) is a young jazz pianist from Antwerp, Belgium. He studied at
De! Kunsthumaniora and the Royal Conservatoire, both in Antwerp. His playing is enriched by the influences of many musicians he listens to and appreciates, including pianists McCoy Tyner, Herbie Hancock, Marcin Wasilewski, Wynton Kelly, Bobo Stenson, Don Pullen... In 2023, Milan was selected to be part of 'De Twintigers 2023', a selection of ten young, promising musicians, made by Radio Klara. Milan surrounds himself with a rhythm section consisting of Toon Rumen (°2001, BE) on double bass and Jens Meijer (°1996, NL) on drums. Their repertoire consists of Milan's own compositions, as well as compositions by musicians who inspire him, and his own arrangements and interpretations of the broader jazz repertoire.
WITH THIS TRIO, MILAN BRINGS HIS ORIGINAL COMPOSITIONS AS WELL AS COMPOSITIONS BY MUSICIANS WHO INSPIRE HIM, AND HIS OWN ARRANGEMENTS.
